Human-centred decisions
Isobel is our first baby, so it’s difficult to compare having a baby during coronavirus to other times. But it does seem like a strange time to have a baby. There are many disadvantages to the current situation. But there are also some interesting advantages, particularly for me as a father.
Christmas and new year is a time for reflection for most people. It never seems to work that way for me.
Thinking about it, 2018 hasn’t been a particularly notable year. Then again, in 2017 I got a new job, and I got engaged. So that was always going to be a tough act to follow.
There is a stereotype about mildly panicking male shoppers wandering around shops at the last minute on Christmas Eve, not quite knowing what to buy. I learnt that such people were not always male, and some of them were rather old enough to know better than to leave things at the last minute.
2017 is a year that showed that I have a lot to be grateful for. But even though I don’t normally set new year’s resolutions, I am setting myself three broad goals for 2018.
