French Disko — Stereolab
For the past couple of years Stereolab have been reissuing most of their back catalogue. It’s been a great opportunity for me to fill the gaps in my collection (which, shamefully, was more gap than collection).
My first exposure to this song was in 2005, when I was watching late night Channel 4 and saw this slightly shambolic cover version by Maxïmo Park and Editors.

Review: What Girls Are Made Of
I really enjoyed What Girls Are Made Of, which is on at the Traverse Theatre until 26 August. It tells the true story of Darlingheart, a band from Kirkcaldy who ended up touring with Radiohead and Blur, before their album tanked and the record industry spat them back out. Read full article

OK — Micachu and the Shapes
I have been shamefully late to discover Mica Levi, and Micachu and the Shapes. This is a track from the band’s 2012 album Never. It contains a lyric that made me laugh out loud, which doesn’t happen very often.
Uncommon
I was delighted to receive Uncommon by Owen Hatherley from a friend at Christmas. I am a huge Pulp fan, but this book had slipped under my radar. Pulp are a great subject for a book, but this analysis ultimately disappoints. Read full article
