The new thing seems to be to get people who don’t know about the subject and also haven’t experienced it, but happen to do well on screen tests and have a different viewpoint to whoever happens to be on screen – ignorance and fake debate being allegedly more attractive than any sort of knowledge. (Yes, Simon Jones, I am talking about you – not sure who/if your Sky equivalent is, but interview subjects on political programs are showing the same trend). Don’t expect TV, radio or major digital platforms to switch to people who have a clue what they are talking about – astronomers or astronauts – unless they can also be astronomically argumentative and anti-logical.
