Two years ago Alex’s parents moved to an amazing house on George Street in Cellardyke, part of which used to be a shop. It was discovered by some local musicians that the room had excellent acoustics for live performances.
This year, the musicians decided it was so good that they would record a CD in the room.
The CD sounds brilliant considering it was recorded in Alex’s parents’ front room with a simple set-up.
I attended the CD launch party last weekend, and it was great to see so many musicians hearing their recordings for the first time. Some people were crying with delight at the results.
There are 18 tracks on the album, with a mixture of original songs and covers. I’m not just saying this: I’m highly impressed by the standard of performances and recording, and the quality of the original songwriting.
Hear clips of the first three tracks from the CD:

Alex designed the cover based on a photo taken by her dad, Chris Oliver. It shows waves crashing over Cellardyke harbour, adjacent to George Street.
The CD is available to purchase in a number of shops around Cellardyke, or online.

There is a rich vein of musical talent both past and present in the East Neuk. The Boathouse on Sundays is an entertaining mix of “something for everyone”. My main tastes are the likes of Clive Gray, Chris Peebles, Sci Fi Jim but loads of others to suit different tastes. Keep it going.
